Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association announced their officers to start 2022.

President Jim Sanders retained his position. Ed Terlau was named vice president, Mary Lou Gervie is treasurer and Jeff Cauhape is secretary.

The association maintains a repeater on Leviathan Peak that serves communications for licensed ham radio operators, recreationists, and travelers in Douglas, Alpine, Lyon, Carson City, and Churchill Counties.

It has supported local bicycle, equestrian, and marathon events as well as helped spread information during the Tamarack and Caldor fires.

The club meets monthly and provides classes for new amateur radio operators. One popular program on the NV7CV repeater is the Watering Hole, which transmits 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at 147.330MHz.

During the COVID lockdown, local hams were able to hold regular meetings by using the repeater. For more information about the association and its events, go to www.cvhams.com or their Facebook page, SIERA.
