The Northern Nevada Development Authority is hosting its annual State of the Counties conference on Wednesday, Jan. 26 from 7:30-10 a.m. at Casino Fandango in Carson City. Executives from Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon, Mineral, and Storey counties will discuss their successes, challenges, and plans. Doors will open at 7 a.m., and breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. The presentations will begin at 8 a.m. Casino Fandango is located at 3800 S. Carson St. in Carson City. Last year’s State of the Counties featured speeches on how the Sierra region dealt with the first year of the pandemic. Carson City and Douglas County reported surprising increases in tax revenue. They also used federal CARES funding to support pandemic expenditures. Mineral County announced that it didn’t lose a single brick-and-mortar small business during 2020. Storey, Lyon, and Churchill counties highlighted their private and public infrastructure projects supporting tourism and pandemic aid.
