Genoa, Nev. — Foothill Road is down to one lane between Leewallen Lane and Leealan Drives today and Thursday for road work. The work is all the way down near Fredericksburg, so it should be relatively easy to dodge.


Centerville weather watcher Dave Benjamin said his home weather station recorded a spike in air pressure 4:09 a.m. Saturday that he attributes to the Tonga Volcano. National Weather Service Reno meteorologist Chris Smallcomb confirmed that a spike across Western Nevada jibes with Dave’s reading.


Congratulations to Carson Valley Middle School eighth-grader Ayva Gunter, who won second place in the Desert Research Institute’s Energy Saving Poster Contest.


Expect sunny skies and a high near 49 degrees with the wind out of the southeast at 5 mph, shifting to northwest this afternoon.
