The entire Carson River Basin is running a smidge ahead of average thanks to December’s big snow. January 2022 will go into the record books with zero precipitation, joining 1984 and 1985. I wish I could say there was a big storm in the cards to kick off February, but there isn’t. Forecasters say the first half of the month will stay pretty dry.

Expect today to be mostly sunny with a high near 54 degrees and the wind out of the southeast at 5 mph. There’s a dry cold front rolling through that will drop the high into the 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday, so be prepared to bundle up.
