Douglas County Election workers spent Thursday recounting ballots in the primary race for governor after candidate Joey Gilbert challenged the results. The “trains all here” for the Great Western Steam Up starting today and lasting through the Fourth of July at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in south Carson City. Featuring a couple of trains that actually rolled the rails in Douglas County, the event is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The National Weather Service in Reno reports temperatures are going to be 5-15 degrees cooler than average on Sunday and Monday, with the high in Minden forecast to hit 77 degrees.

It’s going to be windy on Saturday as those cooler temperatures arrive with gusts 30-35 mph forecast. It’s going to be choppy out on the Lake over the weekend, so wear a lifejacket.

Today expect sunny skies and a high temperature of 86 degrees. The zephyr will pick up out of the west at 10-15 mph, gusting to 30 mph.
