A fire burning near Jackson, Calif., will send haze into Carson Valley over the next few days.

Federal fire detection shows the Electra Fire has nearly doubled in size since its last report of 3,034 acres and has sent a smoke plume affecting air quality in Pollock Pines.

Fire.airnow.gov shows the plume from the fire extends north to almost the Plumas County line.

“Depending on fire activity the next couple of days, winds would be favorable for smoke transport into Tahoe and Western Nevada,” Wendell Hohmann said on Tuesday morning.

East Fork and Tahoe-Douglas fire protection districts have each sent an engine to the fire.

The fire was reported at 3:44 p.m. July 4 and rapidly expanded.

As of Tuesday morning, it threatened 450 structures in addition to power infrastructure.

The fire is burning in rugged terrain in the south fork of the Mokelumne River drainage. About 100 campers and PG&E employees were evacuated from the area.

One first responder was reported injured, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

As of 7 a.m., the fire has yet to claim a structure.
