Genoa, Nev. — East Fork medics responded this morning to a report of a 6:40 a.m. collision involving a vehicle and a power pole at Foothill and Trimmer Court near the Genoa Post Office. The driver was taken for treatment for chest pains. The pole seems to have survived the collision, with no outages reported.
In addition to rescuing a jet skier who’d been floating in Lake Tahoe for two hours, first responders worked a collision on Highway 50 at Elk’s Point and what sounds like a couple of crashes east of the Centerville roundabout on Wednesday evening. There were injuries but no fatalities, thankfully. There was another crash reported 6:30 a.m. today just south of Genoa.
A fire on a Bently wheat field was held at less than a quarter-acre by workers who had it pretty much out before first responders arrived just after lunch on Wednesday. I’ll admit to a little déjà vu when the first report of a wildland fire came out around 1 p.m.
Commissioners introduced the repeal of their sprinkler ordinance on Wednesday. They were meeting a day early so Chairman Mark Gardner and Vice Chairman Wes Rice can attend the National Association of Counties meeting in Colorado.
Main Street Gardnerville is hosting a red, white and blue Wine Walk 4:30-7:30 p.m. today. There’s a couple of alcohol-related events in the calendar, so please designate a driver or secure a sober ride.
Wednesday topped out at 95 degrees on the automated weather system at Minden-Tahoe Airport. That’s pretty much where the high temperatures are going to sit for at least the next week. Expect west winds 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph this afternoon.
