The CVLL 12U teams season came to end on Sunday after losing the State Championship against Paseo Verde.
Paseo Verde jumped ahead of Carson Valley in the first inning scoring four runs.
In the 2nd inning Carson Valley powered ahead scoring seven runs and Paseo Verde scored one more leaving Carson Valley with a two-point lead 7-5.
Paseo Verde continued on to score 12 more runs in the final four innings to lead them to their 17-8 win and State Championship title.
The CVLL 12U team along with the CVLL Juniors team who also made the state tournament were the first to do so in 24 years.
The 12U Carson Valley Little League team is headed to the state championship game in Las Vegas.
Both the Juniors team and 12U team headed down to the tournament last Tuesday with festivities beginning on Wednesday.
Wednesday, the teams participated in opening ceremonies, a dinner for the players and participated in skills competitions.
“The kids are having a great time down there,” said communications director Amy Pearson-Gomez.
The 12U team played High Dessert on Thursday. High Dessert came out with a quick 5-1 lead by the third inning. Carson Valley fought back in the fourth and fifth inning scoring eight runs putting them up 9-6. Both teams scored two points in the 6th inning leading Carson Valley to win 11-8.
The team went into their second tournament game on Friday against Mountain Ridge. The game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Carson Valley went up 5-2. In the sixth inning Mountain Ridge worked to rally back scoring four hits but Carson Valley held on in the nail biter scoring two hits in the sixth and winning 7-6 against Mountain Ridge.
This win puts Carson Valley in the State Championship that will be played on Sunday morning. The team they are playing is still undetermined.
The double elimination tournament also kicked off on Thursday for the Juniors team who played Green Valley. Green Valley started the game off hot in the first inning scoring 11 runs. Carson valley scored two runs. The game was quiet from the second to the sixth inning when Green Valley scored one more run leading them to win the game 12-2.
The Juniors also played on Friday morning against Silverada. Carson Valley scored quickly in the first and second to jump to a 5-0 lead. In the third, Silverada scored five runs and Carson Valley scored one more to keep the lead at 6-5. In the 5th inning Silverada scored 11 runs leading them to a 16-6 win over the Carson Valley Juniors team.
The Juniors team is out of the tournament following the loss after their all-star season.
