About 120 Carson Valley Middle School history students toured the neighboring Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.

The students were brought over by U.S. History and Outdoor Science teacher Amada Laca and Aide Jeanette Downes in groups of 30 students to see what they have been studying all year.

Docent Kay Kocian brought to life the exhibits and interacted with the 120 students over the two-day period.

“It was such a pleasure to see such well-mannered young people who entered the museum with worksheets prepared by Mrs. Laca,” Volunteer Robin Sarantos said. “The soon-to-be high schoolers proved very attentive taking in the Valley’s rich and colorful history asking insightful questions while taking notes.”

The museum is located inside the former Douglas County High School.

“Parents, Principal Nancy Little and Assistant Principal Josh Billings can be very proud of this graduating class who were not only interested in every aspect of the museum’s exhibits, they were well-behaved, courteous and expressed interest in returning to see more of the many, many items on display,” Sarantos said. “Our Carson Valley is in good hands with these inquisitive, future leaders.”

To arrange a docent tour of the museum, contact Office Manager Brenda Hansen, 775-782-2555. Children are free.
