Genoa, Nev. — It’s Buddy Night at the Carson Valley Days Carnival 5 p.m. today with one $35 ticket half off with the purchase of a ticket for full price. Presale tickets are $30 but won’t be accepted tonight.
If you’re going to the carnival or anywhere else outdoors this weekend, remember to bring water, sunscreen and definitely mosquito repellant. Douglas County Mosquito Abatement is spraying in Genoa tonight.
With only two days left in early in-person voting, 1,495 residents have gone to the polls so far. Looking at the past four days, it’s a good bet that number won’t reach 2,000 by the time the polls close 6 p.m. Friday. Voting machines are available at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center today and Friday.
Voters have cast 4,923 paper ballots they received in the mail. That brings the total number of residents who have already voted to 6,418 as of Wednesday night, or around 15 percent. Unless that picks up, Election Day is either going to be really busy or turnout is going to be pretty dismal.
There was a last minute change of venue for the Tahoe Symphony's benefit for Between Horses and Humans with it moving from St. Gall Catholic Church to Trinity Lutheran Church tonight. For more information, visit www.betweenhorsesandhumans.org/
The high temperature is expected to crack the 90s today, hitting 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high for Friday has been revised upward to 95 degrees as the heat dome returns.
