Douglas County Historical Society presents a tour of the barns of Carson Valley.
All of the barns are historic timber frame barns.
This is a self-guided tour with presenters at each site. Each ticket has a map and directions. The tour is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18.
Tickets are available for purchase by calling 775-782-2555 or at Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 Main St., Gardnerville.
There are six barns on the tour and the ticket price of $25, includes admission to Court House Museum in Genoa and Carson Valley Museum where, at the end of the tour an ice cream social will be held.
“The tour is the day before Father’s Day but what a great way to celebrate with the whole family,” organizers said. “Frequently some of the barns have owls with fledglings in the nest. This is a real treat. These old wonders are slowly disappearing so take advantage while you may and come on out for a great day.”
