Genoa, Nev. — Thursday morning commuters on Highway 395 just north of Minden got an eyeful, as law enforcement conducted a felony traffic stop on a semi that was identified as stolen by a license plate reader. The truck wasn’t stolen, no one was injured, and the driver was released, though I’m sure quite shaken by the experience.

A wind advisory is already in effect through 9 p.m. today. Expect southwest winds 25-30 mph, gusting to 45 mph today. Might be a good idea to pin down stuff that could blow away.

The winds could bring power outages with them. A handful of NV Energy customers experienced an outage near Foothill and Eva Court this morning that may have been due to a power pole fire. The power went out at 5:40 a.m. and was back on by 7.

The Bently Nevada Family Summer Concert Series features EV & Electric Soup 6-8 p.m. at Minden Park. Carson Tahoe Health is cosponsoring, along with the town and Holiday Inn Express, with Nevada Nosh offering food.

There are a few things going on this Father’s Day weekend, including the Barn Tour on Saturday, the Family Support Council’s 40th at Heritage Park and the Johnson Lane Volunteers are putting on a pancake breakfast. Check the calendar for more info.

There’s a snow level on Saturday morning of 6,200 feet rising to 7,500 feet, but not much moisture. We might also see some thunderstorms with the high forecast to hit 65 degrees.

Today expect mostly sunny skies and a high temperature near 70 degrees. The wind will be out of the south at 5-15 mph, increasing to 15-25 mph, with gusts of up to 45 mph.
