Highway 395 and Johnson Lane has become a magnet for collisions lately, with two more on Wednesday. One was reported as an injury collision at 1:06 p.m., and there was a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash around 4 p.m. A medical issue contributed to Tuesday’s multiple-vehicle collision.
It seems there has been an upswing of alcohol-related medical calls in the days approaching the Fourth of July weekend. If you’re drinking this weekend, make sure you have a sober ride. Alcohol is banned at Nevada Beach on the Fourth and will be confiscated.
The drumming from the CVIC Hall 4 p.m. today will be the Japanese drum group Taiko Tsurunokai performing as part of the Douglas County Public Library’s reading program. The group will be at the Zephyr Cove branch 2 p.m. today before rolling down into the Valley.

Today expect sunny skies and a high temperature of 87 degrees. Expect the wind to pick up out of the southeast to 15-20 mph this morning, gusting to 30 mph.
