Less than a year after the death of his sister, Daniel Troy Hickey followed her on Jan. 26, 2022, at the age of 50.
A 1989 graduate of Douglas High School, Hickey was a member of one of the oldest families in Carson Valley, whose father served as a county commissioner and whose great grandfather was a longtime judge.
Born May 1, 1971, Hickey grew up in Carson Valley, where he established himself as a heavy equipment operator and a crop duster pilot.
“We have known Troy since he was an infant, and short of recognizing his abilities to fly planes and operate heavy equipment, we admired him most for having a big heart,” Jerry and Darlene Gregory said. “Troy was always willing to help others in need, and always did such with that famous big Troy Hickey smile.”
Survived by mother Laurie, Troy is preceded in death by his father Dan Hickey on Dec. 11, 2018, and sister Shannon on March 14, 2021.
The Gregorys and attorney Nancy Jackson have established a fund to help support the family.
“We are now making an effort to reach out to the community in seeking donations to assist his mother, Laurie, who has encountered significant expense during the past year and a half due to the untimely death of three family members,” Gregory said.
A service may be set for April.
The Troy Hickey Memorial Fund is located at El Dorado Savings Bank 3788 South Highway 395, Carson City, NV 89705-6898. The account No. 53019097.
