Genoa, Nev. — The second reading of an ordinance that will limit parking on some Genoa streets that have been overwhelmed by visitors goes before Douglas County commissioners 10 a.m. today. The ordinance has been in the works since residents presented a petition to the Genoa Town Board last year.


County commissioners will also discuss refinancing the bond for the community and senior center before the Fed raises interest rates. Approval of refinancing the $7 million is just being introduced at commissioners meeting today. Commissioners meet in the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden. My attentions will be elsewhere today with the sentencing hearing for Wilber Martinez-Guzman in Douglas County District Court, which is expected to take well into the afternoon.


Regional Transportation Commissioners had a few questions but no changes to the draft Five-Year Transportation Plan. The plan will come back in April for final approval before it goes to county commissioners.


The odds are pretty good we’ll see some weather after midnight tonight through Saturday as two systems roll through Western Nevada. The one tonight will be weaker, while a colder air mass will arrive on Friday night and that will be the end of our winter shorts weather.


There’s some high cloudiness this morning, that should increase as the day wears on. Expect a high temperature of 62 degrees and southeast winds 5-10 mph shifting southwest to 10-15 mph this afternoon.
