There’s a chance Carson Valley will see a little more snow this morning.

It snowed overnight and there are chain controls in effect on Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50 at Lake Tahoe this morning.

In a statement issued at 4:10 a.m., forecasters said that if lake effect bands persist, there are places east of Tahoe and Pyramid Lake that could see up to 3 inches of snow.

Traffic cameras at nvroads.com show a lot of snow on Highway 50 between Carson City and Spooner Summit with lighter accumulations further south toward the state line.

Light rain started falling around 7:35 p.m. and turned to snow by 10 p.m., according to the Minden Tahoe Airport Automated Weather Observing System.

Expect scattered showers this morning after 10 a.m. under mostly cloudy skies with a high temperature near 42 degrees. The wind is out of the south at 5-10 mph, shifting to the northwest before lunch.

Snow accumulations of less than a half inch are expected outside of any areas affected by lake effect snow bands.
