Genoa, Nev. — The first day of filing for election on Monday resulted in races for Douglas County School Board District 6 and County Commission District 4 seats. Five of the six county officers filed on Monday. I’m sure we’ll hear from Public Administrator Steve Walsh over the next two weeks.


It’s been a dozen years since Natalie Yanish drew an ace to win a seat on the Kingsbury General Improvement District Board. She’s challenging Commissioner Wes Rice, himself a veteran of one of Douglas County’s many improvement district boards.


Clear Creek is seeking authorization to turn its timeshares into homes at today’s Douglas County Planning Commission, which meets 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse. Also on the agenda is a permit for a bed and breakfast at the base of Kingsbury Grade.


Douglas County school board trustees will discuss a $78,700 contract with architect Paul Calvin to design the new roofs at Scarselli Elementary and Pau-Wa-Lu Middle schools. The school board is meeting 4 p.m. today at the Airport Training Center, 1126 Airport Road, Building G-1


Expect sunny skies today with a high temperature near 56 degrees. The wind is calm, picking up out of the west at 5 mph this afternoon.
