Genoa, Nev. — A proposed bed and breakfast in Sierra Shadows near the base of the Valley side of Kingsbury Grade was denied a permit 7-0 by planning commissioners on Tuesday. The owner was cited for operating an unpermitted VHR. He can still appeal the denial to county commissioners.

While vacation home rentals are prohibited in East Fork Township, there really isn’t a set penalty like the impending $20,000 maximum for VHR scofflaws in Tahoe Township. I get the feeling that’s going to change with the ordinance revision.

Planning commissioner Nick Maier announced he was resigning from the planning commission to focus his time on the Fred Simon for Governor campaign. Gardnerville resident Blaine Osborne filed for Assembly District 39 on Tuesday. Filing slowed down today in Douglas, with a smattering of town and district filings.

Another slider storm may bring gusty winds, cooler temperature and the possibility of a little light snow tonight, according to a statement issued by the National Weather Service. I would bet on the 30-40 mph north wind, as it’s March and all.

Today expect mostly sunny skies with a high temperature in the mid-50s and the west wind 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Any precipitation is due after 10 p.m. It might be enough to mess up Kingsbury some.
