Douglas County School Board District 6 Trustee Heather Jackson is seeking election to the seat she was appointed to in March 2021.
“Currently, our school district is in need of unity,” Jackson said. “We can create unity by encouraging our students, supporting our teachers, and trusting our administrators.”
Jackson, a life-long resident of Douglas County and 1994 graduate of Douglas High School, has four children who currently attend public schools in Douglas County or have graduated from Douglas High School.
She has been involved heavily in the community including coaching for CV Little League, AYSO, and Douglas County youth volleyball. She spent many years as an adult Cub Scout leader and served as Program Director of Cub Scout Day Camp for two years.
While her kids attended Scarselli, she served as the PTO President at the school.
With a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Jackson has worked part time the last five years at Sierra Lutheran High School teaching precalculus and algebra. She has also worked as a private tutor.
During her year on the school board, she has had the opportunity to present to the State Board of Education and is currently on the board of directors for the Nevada Association of School Boards.
Jackson was appointed to the seat when longtime school board trustee Tom More resigned last spring.
