After two years of nontraditional proms due to the coronavirus outbreak, Douglas High School is giving students one to remember with a Night at the Ball on Saturday at Genoa Lakes.
Douglas High School’s Activities Director Karen Lamb said prom was canceled in 2020 and in 2021 it was modified and held outside at locations around the community.
This year, prom is being led by committee junior class officers Joscelyn Turner and Amanda Warren and they are looking forward to organizing the event.
“It has been fun to make this important event happen this year after the pandemic,” said Warren and Turner. “Getting events back helps unify the student body and breathes life back into the school.”
The nine senior prom kings and queens are looking forward to gracing the ball and are basking in all the end of the year events.
“It’s crazy, I never expected to be nominated,” said King nominee Martin Luna Arcos. “I’m just taking it all in for the last time.”
