Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County is home to the first district or superior court in the nation to be e-court certified and the first to be phase 3 certified under the Uniform System for Judicial Reporting in Nevada, according to Court Administrator Bobbie Williams, who is ready to tackle the justice courts.

That’s just a sample of the items coming out of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners’ annual budgetpalooza. I could write a story a week for the next year based on information I pick up from the hearings. If you want to know about Douglas County, watching commissioners wade through the budget is a great primer.

Commissioners meet for the second day of hearings at 9 a.m. today in their chambers at the historic Douglas County Courthouse. To watch, visit douglascountynv.gov and click Watch Board meetings.

It finally rained in Carson Valley around 6-7 p.m. Monday after the skies threatened for most of the day. This morning the only road controls are on Highway 88 from Picketts Junction west and over Mount Rose Highway.

A little snow fell on Kingsbury, but you can see the blacktop on the traffic camera. Weather Watcher Jeff Garvin reported .38 inches near his place in southern Carson Valley. I only received .06 inches, establishing a likely range for last night’s totals. The Tamarack Lodge snow stake is showing around 2 inches of new snow at Heavenly.

At some point over the past week, the Weather Service revised the rain total for Feb. 22 in Minden to a tenth of an inch, which not counting last night was the sum total of precipitation to fall in 2022.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 64 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the west at 5-10 mph this afternoon and clear any clouds out.
