Genoa, Nev. — A walking tour of Markleeville is 1-2:30 p.m. today before an open house 4-6 p.m. at the Alpine County administration building on a variety of improvements proposed for around the historic town.


County commissioners are expected to wrap up their budget hearings 9 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden. On Tuesday, Community Services Director Scott Morgan said weed control chemicals are flying off the shelves as people expect an aggressive weed season.


In Tuesday’s morning report I conflated the names of Court Administrator Bobbie Williams with Airport Manager Bobbie Thompson. My deepest apologies to both women.


Stateline’s gaming numbers are down 3.93 percent for the month of February, according to figures released this morning by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The clubs brought in $19.67 million down from $20.47 million in February 2021. The chief source of Douglas gaming revenue is running behind 5.89 percent.


A 17-year-old dirt biker injured his back in the Ranchos Sandpits around 6 p.m. Tuesday. East Fork medics responded and transported him for treatment.


A vehicle went through the front door of the former Bealls in Gardnerville next door to Grocery Outlet around 4 p.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt and the county inspector was called to check on the damage.


Minden recorded .28 inches of rain from yesterday’s storm, which nearly quadrupled the total for all of 2022, so far to .38. That’s pretty much all we’re going to see in the first quarter.


The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies today with the high climbing to 67 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the west this afternoon at 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. The low tonight is forecast to drop down to 31 degrees.
