Genoa, Nev. — Nevada State Police are investigating a fatal vehicle rollover that occurred around 5 a.m. today at Interstate 580 and the College Parkway offramp involving a green F-150 pickup. Authorities say speed might have been a factor, and that the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.


Congratulations to Brendan Riley, who was named on Thursday to the Genoa Town Board. Riley’s been a long-time resident of Nevada’s oldest town and for a good portion of that was the Associated Press’ main capital correspondent.


Commissioners approved purchasing three 19-acre parcels from Park Ranch Holdings for $5 million as a first step in establishing a new judicial center and eventually centralizing several county functions.

After two years and two months, the state of emergency declared when the coronavirus arrived in March 2020 is officially over as of 12:01 a.m. today. County commissioners rescinded their declaration on Thursday.


I took one last look at the state coronavirus dashboard on Thursday and it listed Douglas case rate as averaging three a day. This morning the dashboard appears to be unavailable.

Expect cooler weather today with the high just cracking 61 degrees, and the wind out of the east 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. It’s supposed to tickle freezing with 31 tonight.
