Everywhere you looked at the two-day Nevada State Track and Field Championships, Sierra Lutheran was posting results.
Over the course of the two days, the Falcons made 17 trips to the podium to receive medals and awards.
Flynn Scheibe won the Class 1A 400-meter dash state title in 52.43.
“I had a plan going into it. I wanted to stay with him until the final 50 and then have a kick at the end,” Scheibe said postrace. “I’m a sprinter so this is a bit too long distance for me. … I wasn’t expecting to win in this event, but I’ll take it.”
Scheibe didn’t initially run the 400 to start the year, but building up the endurance to sprint an entire lap around the track paid off.
Scheibe was third in the 100 and second in the 200 for the Falcons.
The Falcon girls’ 4x400 also topped the field with a final time of 4:43.03, smashing the group’s personal record by more than 6 seconds.
Riley McHenry, Kailey Fitzpatrick, Kayla Carpenter and Saige Gregory added a gold to their resumes and with three juniors and a freshman in the race, the Falcons have a shot at repeating next year.
A completely different foursome of Chloe Friend, Emily Zich, Matisyn Beaty, Lydia Carpenter took home second place in the 4x200 in 2:05.99.
McHenry replaced Zich in the 4x100 in which the Falcons finished fourth in 59.14.
McHenry also picked up a bronze in the 300-meter hurdles in 53.43, setting a personal record.
Saige Gregory dominated the long distance events taking third in the 800 before earning silver medals in both the 1,600 and the 3,200.
“I was really tired because I had just run the 800, but I think I did pretty good,” said Gregory after her 3,200 race.
“It was probably my best race,” said Gregory of her 1,600 in which she finished in 6:05.01. “The mile is probably my best event.”

Fellow freshman Chandler Ricks was the next runner to cross in the 3,200 – finishing in fourth.
“It was a lot hotter than I expected, but I wanted a medal and that’s what I got,” said Ricks.
“After getting one in the mile and the 4x800, it’s nice to get another one to add to my shelf,” Fox said.
