Genoa, Nev. — Alpine County Sheriff’s deputies and the California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal collision at Pickett’s Junction in Hope Valley this morning. According to the CHP site, the collision occurred at 4:30 a.m.
Slick conditions may have contributed to two crashes on Doolittle Curve on Kingsbury on Sunday at 12:10 and 4:52 p.m. Take it easy on this morning’s commute.
From what I can tell, Jeff Garvin’s 4.5 inches overnight in Fredericksburg tops the list of snow totals from Sunday morning. Heavenly Ski Resort received 3 inches of new snow, while Minden got 2 inches and Genoa 1.25 inches.
The Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer’s Office will be conducting ballot cures today and we should see something very close to final results by end of business. While the number of ballots rolling in has changed, they haven’t flipped any Douglas races that I can tell.
Next week is Thanksgiving, and along with the holiday comes early deadlines for the Nov. 23 edition, which is going to bed noon Nov. 21, or Monday. That means all copy deadlines are moved up to noon Friday. I would love to run all thank-you letters in that paper, but we’ll see what rolls in.
Even road temperatures in Gardnerville are below freezing, so watch out for icy patches. It’s 14 degrees at Minden-Tahoe Airport and 18 in Gardnerville, so bundle up.
The long range forecast calls for mild weather through this week, but if you’re going to grandma’s house next week for Thanksgiving forecasters urge people to keep an eye out for a possible atmospheric river arriving on Thanksgiving week.
Expect sunny skies today and a high temperature of 40 degrees today. The barest breeze will pick up out of the west this afternoon at 5 mph. Clear skies will bring colder temperatures tonight.
