Genoa, Nev. — Something approximating final results were released on Tuesday night by the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer’s Office. Those results show 29,255 Douglas voters cast a ballot. Not one race from U.S. senate to swimming pool district saw a change in candidate ranking, that I could tell.
According to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office, Douglas had a turnout of 67.31 percent in the mid-term election, which is the fourth highest in the state. It’s also the second worst turnout in the 21st Century. That number may nudge up a bit, but it has a ways to go before it catches up to the third worst.
Douglas County School Board trustees are conducting Superintendent Keith Lewis’ fall 2022 evaluation today at the Airport Training Center. The meeting starts at 4 p.m. and they may get to that before the 5:30 p.m. public comment period. Find out more at www.dcsd.k12.nv.us/boardnews
Three representatives of the building community turned out on Tuesday to oppose new fire regulations under consideration by the East Fork Fire Protection District. The regulations were introduced, and a final reading is anticipated in December.
I’m told there was a good turnout at the flood session on Tuesday afternoon. My brief chat with the National Weather Service representative indicated we’ll be lucky to see an atmospheric rivulet next week, much less the whole river.
Today expect sunny skies and a high temperature of 41 degrees. The west wind is forecast to pick up to 5 mph this afternoon. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies tonight and a low of 15.
