Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County Superintendent of Schools Keith Lewis received a rating of highly effective and a revised contract at school board trustees’ Wednesday night meeting. All three newly elected school board trustees attended the meeting. David Burns, Katherine Dickerson and Susan Jansen take office in January.

The $3.7 million segment of Muller Parkway that passes through Monterra has yet to be built as was required by a development agreement and county commissioners are being asked today to declare the property owner in breach of the agreement.

Douglas County commissioners will be inundated by flood-related items at their meeting 10 a.m. today. It has been a quarter century since the big flood of 1997 when the West Fork peaked at 15.36 feet and the East Fork peaked at 11.78 feet.

The packet for today’s meeting at the Douglas County Courthouse contains hundreds of pages of plans, historical information on flooding and a lot of other material for anyone researching the history of disasters in Douglas County and their response.

A big honkin’ marijuana operation for Sierra High farms, including a 10-acre outdoor grow, and 24,000-square-foot greenhouse is being proposed for 15 acres just over the state line in Mono County. Douglas County commissioners are being asked to provide public comment.

The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high temperature of 50 degrees and light winds out of the west at 5 mph. A cold front will bring chillier weather in on Friday, but no moisture. Next week’s forecast is literally up in the air.
