For the second year, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus are helping promote Small Business Saturday this weekend with a toy drive at Brown Bear Design and Gadzooks!

Santa will be handing out candy canes and available for pictures starting at 10 a.m. in front of Gadzooks!

The Clauses will alternate between locations for pictures and music performed by Mrs. Claus throughout the day.

Santa said he will donate the toys to his helpers at the Salvation Army where they will be delivered to families in need during the holiday.

Look for him collecting toys or walking along Main Street paying tribute to the Small Business Saturday participates.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the children and I hope all are being good as the season draws near,” said Santa.

Small Business Saturday is a nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging consumers to support local businesses. In the Carson Valley, the Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Gardnerville support the shop local effort.

“Our small businesses are looking forward to a prosperous holiday season after the last couple years,” said Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce Director Alicia Main. “Start your holiday shopping by supporting our local small businesses.”

There are 32 businesses across Douglas County on the shopping route.

In order to participate, shoppers receive a passport from the Chamber of Commerce which they take along on their shopping trip.

Businesses will stamp the passport and after it is filled, shoppers return it to the Chamber of Commerce for a prize.
