The Alpine County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced that it is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the executive director.
The director will provide executive vision and leadership to the Chamber and Visitors Center to promote Alpine County tourism, support local business, strengthen the membership, and develop strategies to continue to grow financial resources for the organization.
The position has been held for the past three years by Becky DeForest who will be leaving her post after the Aspen Festival on Oct. 9.
“The Chamber has offered me a wealth of opportunities for personal and professional growth, and great personal satisfaction assisting the community through some of the most challenging years we’ve faced,” says DeForest. “It has been an honor to serve Alpine County.”
DeForest took a position with the California FireSafe Council, according to the group’s social media on Oct. 11.
The position is based in Markleeville and serves as the “face” of the organization.
“This position is responsible for maintaining and fostering community and business relationships, driving membership, and for being a liaison among community organizations, businesses, and the local government,” according to the job description.
The job starts at $50,000 a year with 13 paid holidays, mileage and cell phone reimbursement.
