Genoa, Nev. — Always bring a grain of salt to any answer the Clampers give you. Like, for instance, when you ask who won the coffin races on Saturday. They didn’t. Main Street took a photo finish over CV Flyte at the competition held as part of the Fall Fest in Gardnerville.

Heritage Park was as stuffed as a scarecrow with old R-Cs on Saturday. East Fork Gallery reported more than 100 scarecrows joined the population.

I’ve got dozens of photos from residents of the Blue Angels, so we’ll do Valley Blues for Wednesday with the best. I generally refer to myself as a blind squirrel photographer. I got one or two decent photos, but nothing close to JT Humphrey’s fantastic output.

Corley Ranch’s Pumpkin Patch and Harvest Festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in October. Weekends feature pig races the giant sling shot and wagon rides in addition to the other attractions. Find out more at www.corleyranch.com

The last of the Robotics Nights hosted by Douglas County 4-H, DRI and Nevada Robotics is 4-5 p.m. today at the Minden Branch of the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane.

Someone siphoning gas from the Geek Squad vehicles spilled some up at the Best Buy in Carson Valley Plaza sometime Saturday night. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating it as a burglary, and they have video. Gas prices spiked to well over $5 a gallon at even the cheapest outlets.

I’m just going to copy and paste the forecast for the next week, because it’s not going to change much. Expect sunny skies, a high around 80 degrees and the wind out of the north 5-10 mph in the afternoon. There’s no sign of a freeze over the next week, with lows stuck at around 40 degrees.
