Genoa, Nev. — An attempt to repeal the Vacation Home Rental ordinance didn’t get a second after roughly five hours of meeting on Thursday at Stateline. While a positive vote to keep it would have been a good follow-up, commissioners were happy to let the whole thing drop. They spent another two hours talking about what they’d like to see changed.

Two people were transported from a head-on collision at Highway 395 and Riverview. There are several candidates for worst intersection in the county, but I think that one is pretty close to the top.

“12 Angry Jurors” opens at the CVIC Hall in Minden 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $15 for seniors and students and $20 at the door. Find out more at www.carsonvalleycommunitytheatre.org

Saturday is a big Bingo day with Young at Heart noon at the community center and Douglas 4-H Pumpkin Bingo 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville on Centerville Lane, aka the Highway to Heaven.

There are two trail events on Saturday on either end of the county. The Carson Valley Trails Association is celebrating opening of the southern portion of the Clear Creek Trail at James Lee Park starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Pine Nut Mountain Trails Association is conducting its annual fall clean-up. Participants are meeting near the Douglas County line just east of Topaz Ranch Estates at Jack Wright Pass 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. You can email info@pnmta.org for more information.

Expect sunny skies and a high near 80 degrees today, Saturday and Sunday. The winds will run around 5-10 mph out of the north or northeast through the weekend and the lows are stuck right around 40 degrees in the forecast through next Thursday.
