Genoa, Nev. — Highway 395 is down to two lanes both ways after Thursday’s watermain break, but it is open with a big plate where Gardnerville Town Water Co. workers dug up the highway to fix the leak. I can report that there is water at The Record-Courier Center right next door.

While the Gardnerville Town Water Co. worker didn’t want to be quoted last night, I’m sure he’ll be OK when I say that they were determined to get at that line and get it fixed no matter how late they had to work. Good job gents and good luck.

I don’t know what caused the break yet, but I’m working to find out. Folks are speculating it might have something to do with the work that’s been going on over the last while.

We’re still looking at a possible safety outage from Genoa to Jacks Valley and up at the Lake between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. Should NV Energy hit the off button, power could be out until 3 p.m. Saturday while crews check the lines.

Early in-person voting is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Courthouse and at the Community Center. Bring the ballots you received in the mail and poll workers will destroy them for you.

Tonight begins the final set of shows for “12 Angry Jurors.” There are both matinees and evening shows Saturday and Sunday.

Carson Valley Medical Center is conducting a health fair at its Ironwood Medical Center on Saturday. There’s a couple of things happening this weekend. Grab a copy of The R-C on stands now, only a buck.

Today will start out nice with a high near 77 degrees, but breezy in the afternoon with winds 15-20 mph, gusting to 35 mph this afternoon. The storm won’t arrive until later tonight and it will come with wind.
