Genoa, Nev. — Around 125 Douglas residents were at Minden Park on Thursday afternoon to listen to U.S. Sen. Candidate Adam Laxalt, Controller candidate Andy Matthews, Attorney General candidate Sigal Chattah, among others.
As of Thursday evening, 6,585 Douglas County voters have cast a ballot, accounting for slightly more than sixth of the county’s 39,826 active voters.
The roving ballot box will be in Genoa 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Washoe Tribe Community Center 3-6 p.m. today. The polls will be open at the courthouse and the community center all day, today.
The Pink House reopens 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today in Genoa. The historic building actually predates statehood by nine years, if you literally want to get a taste of old, old Nevada, like Utah territory old.
There was a lot of legal news on Thursday, including the cancelation of a four-day trial next week and the sentencing of the truck driver responsible for the Feb. 23, 2021, collision that killed Sean Leonard.
That will be just about all for the county and state that’s open today because it’s the Nevada Day holiday. It’s going to be a fairly quiet weekend in Carson Valley eventwise, since not that many folks want to compete with the big party in Carson City.
It’s going to be chilly in Carson City on Nevada Day Parade morning with a forecast temperature of 35 degrees at 9 a.m. and 45 when the parade starts at 10 a.m. Might be a good idea to bundle up. Most onlookers head over to the sunny side of Carson Street.
We’ll see some clouds today but there’s no precipitation in the weekend forecast with the high at 64 and tonight’s low 26 degrees in Minden. There’s a distant possibility that rain, and even snow will arrive with November next week.
