Genoa, Nev. — A Nevada Division of Forestry helicopter buzzing over Genoa was conducting hoist and longline training for Helitak crews on Monday. The NDF is scheduled to perform as part of the Minden Aviation Roundup this weekend.
One person was transported to Carson Valley Medical Center from a three-vehicle collision that occurred around 7:45 a.m. at Highway 395 and Airport Road. The collision involved a Douglas County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle, a Nissan Rogue and a Toyota Highlander.
I got word that the motorcyclist in Thursday’s collision at Highway 395 and Charlotte Way in south Gardnerville is going to recover. It appeared to me as though he saw the collision and laid the motorcycle down in order to avoid something much worse.
Douglas County Public Library trustees will discuss accepting a $117,323 insurance payment for last November’s burst fire sprinkler that soaked the biography and large print collections pretty thoroughly. Sounds like they’ll be working on the floor there, too. Trustees meet 11 a.m. today at the library.
The Friends of the Douglas County Library raised $6,200 at the Used Book Store, according to Librarian Tim DeGhelder’s report to the board. Remaining books will be donated to other nonprofits, organizer Barb Wilson said.
