Genoa, Nev. — A motorist involved in a rollover collision on Muller Lane on Wednesday morning said she swerved for a deer. Much as I hate hitting the wildlife, Wednesday’s crash is a fairly good representation of the alternative. Fortunately, there was no report of serious injury.


The Stateline casinos had a pretty good August raking in $29.9 million during the month, up 26.84 percent over 2021. Casinos in East Fork and Carson City townships came in with $11.4 million or down a point from August 2021.


The Vacation Home Rental Board spent the better part of five hours working through four Tier 3 permits and an appeal on Wednesday. Only one request, on Tramway, was conditionally approved.


The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest officially lifted fire restrictions on the Bridgeport and Carson ranger districts on Monday. It’s not a free-for-all, though. Campfire permits are required in California’s parts of the forest, which you can get at permit.preventwildfiresca.org


We’ll be wrapping up the water year on Friday with 10.46 inches of precipitation since Oct. 1, 2021. That’s well above average 8.89 inches of precipitation for a year. The 3.73 inches so far in the 2022 calendar year, however, is around 60 percent of average.


Expect sunny skies today with a high temperature forecast to hit 82 degrees with the wind out of the west this afternoon at 10-15 degrees. With lows above 40 forecast over the next week the tomatoes and watering systems should be safe.
