Genoa, Nev. — A presentation on Minden-Gardnerville Sanitation District’s rate increase may go to the head of the meeting tonight. The district meets 6 p.m. in the board room at the plant, which is accessed off Ironwood Drive.


Annexation of a triangular 2.72-acre parcel between Centerville Lane near the Waterloo and the East Fork is before both the MGSD and Gardnerville Town Boards tonight. The applicant is the Bing Trust.


A National Night Out Block Party is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Carson Valley Cinemas in the Ironwood Center, 1770 Highway 395. Live bands and there’s a free movie at 7:30 p.m.


A 90,000-acre wildfire burned into Nevada about 35 miles south of Las Vegas. Fire Information for Resource Management System imagery shows there are some hot spots in the northeastern flank about 12 miles from Searchlight.


Expect wildfires to start marching north as the super bloom dries out and contribute to flashy fuels. These desert scrub fires burn fast and very hot, but they rarely last more than a few days.


The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high temperature near 90 degrees and the wind light pickup up to 5 mph this afternoon, and then 5-10 mph this evening. It looks like the thunderstorms have dropped back to Thursday.
