Genoa, Nev. — A 3:45 p.m. collision at Spooner Junction above Glenbrook where one car rolled over onto its top resulted in two people going for medical treatment on Thursday afternoon and snarling the intersection for more than an hour. Motorists were using Kingsbury to get around the wreck.

A proposal to move the Buckeye Substation closer to East Valley Road was continued by the Administrative Hearing Panel on Thursday, as expected. Drainage seemed to be the big hurdle, though NV Energy representatives said they are working on it.

There are fairly big doings near that intersection of East Valley and Stockyard roads that are complicating the power company’s project. A 118-unit subdivision is in the works for a big parcel there that has been looking for a water purveyor.

I expect most of the tickets are spoken for at the 13th annual Crab & Steak Cookout 6 p.m. tonight at Big Daddy’s Bike & Brew in Gardnerville. Visit www.mefiyi.org for more information.

There are a couple of events on Saturday, including Dr. Michael Fischer’s 10 a.m. presentation on “The Origin and Evolution of the Basque Hotel” at the Dangberg Historic Home Ranch. There’s more on that at www.dangberg.org. The Sheridan Acres Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser is 5-9 p.m. Email sheridanvfd8@gmail.com for more information.

There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms starting 2 p.m. today and lasting through next week. Otherwise, expect mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of around 87 degrees with barely any breeze, unless there’s a thunderstorm.
