On 8/17/2023, the Douglas County Boar of Commissioners INTRODUCED the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE: 2023-1622
TITLE: Ordinance 2023-1622, a Zoning Text Amendment to Douglas County Code, Title 20, updating and amending Chapter 20.50 – Floodplain Management, and Appendix A – Definitions.
SUMMARY: Ordinance 2023-1622, an ordinance amending Douglas County Code, Title 20. Section 1 of the Ordinance updates Chapter 20.50 and includes but is not limited to: a cleanup of misspelled words; the addition of sections 20.50.040(F) and (G); the addition of definitions for “start of construction” and “violation”; a clarification that hydrology and hydraulics studies must be prepared by a licensed engineer in the State of Nevada; the addition of procedures for when no base flood elevation data is available in Zone A; a modification to the requirements for the issuance of floodplain development review/permits, requiring either a hydrology and hydraulics study or a CLOMR, instead of requiring both; a modification to the criteria for construction in x-shaded flood zones; and a modification to the criteria for construction of manufactured homes. Section 2 of the Ordinance amends Appendix A and adds definition of “historic structures.”
The 2nd Reading of this Ordinance will be held on 9/7/2023. A copy of this ordinance is on file in the Clerk’s Office for public review.
