Genoa, Nev. — We are likely going to experience some turbulence as a storm front comes in for a landing in Western Nevada today. A wind advisory and power outage alert for Genoa north to Carson City kick in at 10 a.m.

Keep in mind that we’ve only had a handful of these public safety outage alerts and only one where someone actually had their power turned off back in fall 2021. Today’s alert affects 500 NV Energy customers.

A trash rate increase and a development application for a 102-room hotel west of the Carson Valley Inn go before the Minden Town Board at their 5:30 p.m. meeting in the CVIC Hall. The hotel will go in the west parking lot of the casino.

Genoans will discuss an agreement with Walley’s Hot Springs about their sign on the north side of the Welcome to Genoa sign. An agreement with the new owners provides plowing and maintenance of the 12-year-old trail between the town and the resort. The Genoa Town Board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall.

The sky is pretty clear this morning, but the forecast has rain arriving around 4 p.m. with a snow level at 7,600 feet, so I don’t think there will be many issues with this evening’s commute. The snow level drops to 5,300 feet after midnight, so it could be a slick ride through the mountains on Thursday morning.

The forecast calls for increasing clouds and a high near 60 degrees, with the southwest wend at 5-15 mph, increasing to 15-25 this afternoon. There’s not but .05 inches of rain in the forecast, so don’t expect a lot of moisture.
