On 12/7/2023, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners INTRODUCED the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE: 2023-1628
TITLE: Ordinance 2023-1628, an ordinance enacting revisions to the Town of Minden’s trash and garbage collection regulations, Douglas County Code 18.04.090, including changes to the green waste program.
SUMMARY: Ordinance 2023-1628, an ordinance enacting revisions to the Town of Minden’s trash and garbage collection regulations including changes to the green waste program. Changes also include limits on extra trash days; limiting green waste carts to just two for lots under one-half acre and to a maximum of four carts for lots larger than one-half acre; suspending green waste collection during the months of January, February and March; creating the Town Advisory Board’s right to suspend or terminate the Town’s green waste program or to start charging customers for this service; revising the process for violations of the green waste program; decreasing the number of times a residential dumpster will be provided to a customer to only once per year, if the account is in good standing; the Town may refuse to collect trash if there is excess refuse in a commercial dumpster enclosure; and the list of refuse considered “hazardous materials” will be expanded to include tires and animal carcasses.
The 2nd Reading of this Ordinance will be held on 1/4/2024. A copy of this ordinance is on file in the Clerk’s Office for public review.
