Last week, Crystal Angels conducted their first gathering in a couple of years at The Supper Club at Genoa Lakes.
“Our amazing volunteers worked for the past nine months creating beautifully decorated trees and wreaths as well as securing items from our generous donors,” said Lisa Besso Matthews, co-chair of the Dec. 7 event. “All together, the fundraiser was a great success thanks to all of our community supporters.”
With more than 125 members who meet monthly, Crystal Angels has raised close to $100,000 for local charities over the past decade, including Project Santa Claus, The Boys & Girls Club, Kids & Horses and Aspire Academy.
The group was started by Laurie Hennessy in 1989, with only five members, including Hennessy ‘s mom LaVon. As the group expanded, so too did its mission, to raise money for families with children needing assistance during the holidays.
