Just in time for Christmas, the Carson Valley Community Theatre presents “Wacky and Wonderful Christmassy Stuff, a Yuletide Cabaret” at the Annex opening Thursday.
Created and directed by Tim Heitman, the show is different from classic Christmas productions such as a Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker, instead it’s filled with humorous and touching holiday experiences collected by Heitman.
“Everybody loves the holidays, Christmas, Hanukkah, Santa, a crèche, a reindeer or a menorah,” said Heitman. “This show is a collection of pieces I’ve gathered about the holidays that are very touching and very funny; mostly the latter.”
Heitman said the show is mix of familiar traditions and ones that might be new.
“There is some material that is getting its first world debut in this show and you will be the first audience to enjoy it,” he said.
Viewers can expect an in-and-out experience from the hour and 15 minute production.
“It’s just an hour and 15 minutes straight through and no intermission,” said producer of the show Lucille Rao. “Just the right length for a holiday treat and it’s great for the whole family.”
“Wacky and Wonderful Christmassy Stuff, a Yuletide Cabaret” opens 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Annex located at 1572 Highway 395 North, Minden. Tickets, $20. Shows continue 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 with matinees at 1 p.m. Saturdays. Visit www.carsonvalleycommu
