Genoa, Nev. — A Maverik in Gardnerville recommended for approval on Tuesday night is going to have a fairly significant impact on the intersection at Stodick Parkway that it shares with Heritage Bank, but what those might be are entirely up to the state. Town Board members insisted that the store be moved to the corner of that lot under the town’s design guidelines.


Western Nevada College is dedicating six parking spaces to veterans who hold Purple Hearts at 10 a.m. today at the Carson City campus. The spots will only be available to veterans who have Purple Heart license plates or handicapped sticker.


It’s all about the vacation home rental ordinance at today’s VHR Advisory Board meeting 10 a.m. at Kahle Community Center in Stateline. Board members are working to complete revisions to the ordinance under both deadline and political pressure in order to get them to the planning commission next month. There was a pretty serious traffic collision reported at Highway 50 and Hidden Woods Drive around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. I’ll follow up to find out more this morning.


Last night’s full moon had the coyotes howling and there was some color to the sunrise this morning. Expect mostly sunny skies with a high temperature near 48 degrees and the wind around 5 mph.
