Genoa, Nev. — A request for a half percent of the transient occupancy tax raised at Stateline to operate Lake Link goes to Douglas County commissioners at their regular meeting today. That will amount to $600,000 if they get the whole amount.
The county has agreed to spend up to a half-percent of the TOT on the project, but commissioners have so far been reluctant to approve it. Commissioners meet 10 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.
There are already $750,000 in booked events for the Tahoe Blue Center at Stateline, according to operators with the first event set for July 18. If you were hoping to get a sky box, those are already sold out.
I should have known any Super Bowl involving the Eagles would have a lot worse result than initially reported. The actual win for sports books was $5.4 million or 3.6 percent. That’s the worst since the last time Philadelphia played in 2018, which only saw a $1.17 million win and a .7 percent hold rate.
The Board of Equalization denied an appeal of the tax valuation for Baker Hughes Bently Nevada’s Minden site. That was the only item before the board, which was done in just over an hour.
If you’re interested on serving on a board that serves essentially once a year, there’s a spot open. Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m. Friday at www.douglascountynv.gov/government/county_boards_and_commissions
It's nowhere near as cold as forecast this morning, though 16 degrees is fairly crisp. We’re supposed to see partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 38 degrees, and then back down to 17 on Friday morning.
