Genoa, Nev. — After more than 50 hours of work, the Vacation Home Rental Advisory Panel approved final code 5-0 on Wednesday and forwarded it to the planning commission. Whatever the fate of that work, the five volunteers on that board put in significant amount of work and that deserves a lot of respect.


There are road controls all along Highway 395 and. of course, at Lake Tahoe. Snow tires and four-wheel drive will be sufficient in the Valley. Douglas deputies helped get a pickup unstuck at 50 and Kahle this morning, so take that as a sign to be particularly careful upstairs.


Light flurries are drifting in the breeze this morning and it looks like we may have already got our accumulation of a half inch, as yet another storm looms on the horizon.


I’ll follow up this morning on a collision reported around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 88 near Dressler Lane. It appears California Highway Patrol is the investigating agency.

The winter weather advisory for Carson Valley takes effect 4 a.m. Friday and will last until 10 a.m. Saturday. We could see as much as 2-6 inches of snow in the Valley and 4-12 inches above 5,000 feet.


Today is mostly going to be about the wind, which is expected to be 15-25 mph, gusting to 40 mph at times. The snow isn’t supposed to start until around 10 a.m., but it doesn’t wear a watch. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 29 degrees.
