Since its 750-square-foot garage debut more than 16 years ago, MCA mechanical has recently settled into their new shop on Industrial Way in Gardnerville offering their sheet metal specialties to the Carson Valley.

“We have always made our own custom sheet metal products, but now we want to share with the pubic what has become a lost art of fabrication,” said MCA Mechanical Inc. owner Matthew Anderson.

With more than 30 years of experience, Anderson started MCA out of his garage with his wife, Tami in 2006, specializing in HVAC for industrial and commercial all over California and Nevada.

“We’ve really specialized in kitchens and helping to build restaurants,” said Tami.

Aside from building or having the material to build roof curbs and units, kitchen exhausters, conditioned make-up air units, stainless wall liners and more, the shop provides metal for various other projects.

“We’re here for individual needs,” said Tami. “If you have an idea you want to build, whatever you might need out of sheet metal, come in with that idea and we can help you build it.”

The new space is tooled with beautiful and top-notch quality machines, said Matthew.

“I like the machines,” he said. “We have some top notch ones in here as well as some that are older than me and that’s the beautiful thing about them is they will work and continue to work if you take care of them.”

Taking care of things is part of the dedication Tami and Matthew show not only to their business, but to their team and customers too.

Brian Brady is a superintendent with more than 20 years of HVAC experience and has worked for the Andersons for 8 years.

“They’re really good people to work with,” said Brady. “They care about their employees whether it’s work related or not work-related, it’s like being a family. And even the work we do, it’s done with care. Being able to work in an environment like this is really cool.”

Tami said she likes seeing what the team has been able to accomplish over the years.

“It’s really fun,” she said. “I have an engineering background, but I would have never thought of becoming an entrepreneur and business owner with MCA doing what we do here. I love being out on the jobs sites and seeing what our team had been able to build.”

Matthew has enjoyed growing in his career and his business since he first started learning the work in 1987.

“Now we are doing jobs that use to impress me when I was working for other people,” he said. “I’m on the other side of that, growing a business that I learned my whole life. It’s just a great experience and thing to be doing.”
