Genoa, Nev. — Rain turned to snow around 5:30 a.m. today as a belated winter weather advisory kicked in for Carson Valley. The forecast is for a mixture of rain and snow until 10 a.m. and then more snow. The advisory expires at noon, but the weather doesn’t wear a watch.

Mark Gardner received another term as chairman and Wes Rice as vice chairman in a 3-2 vote with Danny Tarkanian and Walt Nowosad opposed. Nowosad observed the 3-2 split seems to have survived. Same vote came down for the reappointment of Rice to TRPA for four years.
Update: Commissioners canceled their meetings today and Wednesday on appointments to various boards and commissions due to the storm. If Monday was any indication, a little cooling off might be a good call.
Update: It has been snowing all morning and I've got around 2 inches of new snow on the deck as of 11:30 a.m. It was just starting to stick at 7:30 a.m.
This should be a more traditional storm with 2-4 inches of snow forecast to fall, but nothing like the surprise New Year’s blast we received.
The wind is expected to pick up out of the south at 15-20 mph this afternoon gusting to 30 mph. The forecast high temperature is 39 degrees with the low tonight dropping to 23 depending on cloud cover. The winds will stick around tonight.
