Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County schools are on a 90-minute delay this morning to deal with slick conditions. Both Western Nevada College and the University of Nevada, Reno are opening at 10 a.m. None of this affects online classes.
It’s foggy out this morning north of Minden. Forecasters are concerned that wet conditions on Monday could lead to flash freezing on the roads across the region, so take it easy on this morning’s commute, whether driving or walking.
Conditions were pretty slick on Monday, with a collision that occurred around 9:10 a.m. at Highway 395 and Riverview. No one opted for an ambulance ride, but it was sort of a mess.
Road controls are in place over Kingsbury and on Highway 50 at the Lake. That may change if there are a lot of spin-outs and slide-offs on Highway 395 this morning. Check nvroads.com before you head out.
There are around 50 applicants for commissioners to sort through for the various boards and commissions. Three members of the planning commission, Maureen Casey, Mark Neddenriep and Jim Slade are vying with three others for their seats.
The number of folks seeking one of three positions on the Airport Advisory Committee is down from 13 to 11. Commissioners meet 10 a.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden.
