Last Wednesday, the Tiger wrestling team split its triangular dual with Bishop Manogue and Spanish Springs out in Reno.
The Tigers took advantage of open weights against the Miners en route to a 78-6 win before falling to the toughest team in the North, Spanish Springs.
The Cougars bested Douglas, 60-18.
In the loss to Spanish Springs, Dalton Nixon had a win by fall in 1:49 to give the Tigers six points.
Jaxon Nixon (175) and Michael White (heavyweight) also had first round pins to round out the rest of the Tiger scoring.
Ella Kavanaugh (106), Victor Valdez (132), Dalton Nixon and Aaron Tekansik (190) all had wins via fall for Douglas against Bishop Manogue.
Over this past weekend, the Tiger wrestling team put on a show en route to a fourth place team finish in Fernley.
As a team, Douglas posted 173 points overall finishing behind Battle Mountain (228), Fallon (233.5) and host Fernley, which won the meet with 276.5 points.
Sage Adie and Tekansik led the way for Douglas at their respective weight classes.
Adie used three wins by fall to power his way into the finals before falling to Heath Doering of Galena by a 14-8 decision.
Tekansik matched his teammate with three wins coming via the pin before falling in the finals to Nicholas Glass from Fernley by a 12-4 major decision.
Jaxon Nixon (175) was the only Tiger to leave with a bronze medal dominating his way through the consolation bracket after a quarterfinal loss.
By the end of the day, Nixon finished 5-1 with four pins and a win by forfeit.
Caine Klein (165), Victor Valdez (126), Gunnar Bleeker (113) and Ella Kavanaugh (106) all finished in fourth place for Douglas.
Klein had a win by fall in 1:31 to make the third place match before his tournament came to a close.
Valdez had three wins come by the pin – none of which lasted longer than 2:20 – before getting pinned himself in the third place round.
Bleeker had four wins by fall en route to the third place bout while Kavanaugh had two wins by fall and another by 6-0 decision.

Douglas basketball powers past Damonte Ranch
There wasn’t much doubt in both Tiger wins Saturday over Damonte Ranch.
The girls took down the Mustangs, 41-27, while the boys dispatched of their league foe, 62-43.
The Douglas boys had three double-digit performances led by Thomas McDowell’s 14 points and seven rebounds.
JC Reid and Theo Reid each had 13 points in the win while Theo Reid posted a game-high four blocks.
Overall, Douglas shot 51 percent from the floor in the win.
UP NEXT: Both teams were back at home Tuesday evening against Reed before traveling to take on McQueen in Reno Friday.
