Genoa, Nev. — The Eagles & Agriculture Reception is 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. Tickets may still be available for it and Friday’s dinner at the CVIC Hall in Minden by visiting www.carsonvalleynv.org. Who knows, there might even be a tour open, too.

The VHR Committee denied an appeal of a $5,000 fine for a Stateline resident who was operating a vacation home rental without a permit. That may still be appealed to Douglas County commissioners.

Members of the VHR advisory committee spent around five hours working on the code revision on Wednesday, according to the video. I’m going to go back and see how much time these folks have put into this effort, but it’s impressive.

A collision was reported on Highway 50 around 6:08 a.m. today blocking the westbound slow lane near Golf Club Drive. Watch for emergency vehicles through there. The NHP site is glitching this morning.

We might see some weather Sunday and Monday as a slider storm rolls into Western Nevada. It’s bringing cold air into the region, so there’s a possibility of snow showers to the Valley floor. The high on Monday is forecast to be 23 degrees, so plan accordingly.

Today will be nice, with sunny skies and a high near 39 degrees, with the wind calm. Expect mostly clear skies tonight and a low of 21. Friday will see a high near 47 degrees, so bust out the tanning lotions.
